Gran Paradiso (Firefox 3) includes a form of malware protection that checks every URL against a known list of sites. It does so by sending each URL you visit to Google.

Similar to how Firefox 2 blocks Web sites that are potentially going to try to steal your personal information, Firefox 3 will block Web sites that are going to try to install malicious programs on your computer. The feature is supposed to be designed to allow the browser to check the URL against a list of phishing sites which is stored at Google.
The downside is that while you get some form of protection, Google is getting countless informations about the sites you are visiting.
This feature is disabled by default, but if people enable this feature, they get some malware protection, and Google can sell their Web surfing habitst advertising companies.
