In the older PS units which had electrical power switch, there was a switched outlet at the back. Since the soft switching came in vogue that socket got hard wired to the mains.

I took a 12V relay, wired the coil to the 12V supply line and used the contacts to switch the mains to the outlet. When the PS switches on, the output socket is also powered. All my aux gadgets like printer, scanner, audio is now switched off when the PC is shut down.
