It looks like his brain is actually sort of hollow. This would mean that most of his outer cerebral cortex is intact if I am not misreading the images. This would lend some support for those who feel that much of human intelligence has been taken over by the neocortex and that understanding it is the key to understanding and replicating intelligence in machines. It certainly suggests that the estimates of the resources needed to simulate a human level intelligence may be overstated. So much of the brain is involved in things that may not be crucial to intelligence that we might be able to make an intelligent system with far less computational resources than the human brain itself would suggest.
